Recognizing Candida

The earlier you start to treat a Candida yeast infection the quicker and more efficient the candida treatment is. Therefore I’ve compiled a short list of Candida Symptoms to help anyone who thinks they might have Candida to self diagnose and hence start a Candida treatment plan early enough:

Burning and Itching around the Vagina

The vagina and surrounding area usually becomes irritated and inflamed during a yeast infection. These areas becomes very itchy with a great urge to scratch the infected areas. Unfortunately scratching makes the area even more irritated and inflamed a vicious circle starts.

Experiencing pain when urinating or during sexual intercourse

The pain that is often experienced when going to the toilet or having sex is caused by the inflamed vaginal mucosa and genital parts. A similar pain is also experienced during a urinary tract infection (UTI) but a good way to tell the two apart is to ascertain where the pain stops and starts. The pain that is caused by a UTI increases towards the end of weeing whereas the pain caused by a yeast infection will be consistent throughout.

Foul Odour coming from the Vagina

A foul fermented bread or cheese like odour from the vagina is a frequent sign of a yeast infection. The odour does not smell fishy but smells more like fermented cheese or bread. A fishy smell usually indicates a bacterial infection, in contrast a fermented smell indicates a yeast infection. Where a bacterial infection appears with a yeast infection, medical advice should be sought from a professional doctor.

Vaginal discharge that is usually yellow or white

There is usually white or a light yellow discharge coming from the vagina during a candida yeast infection. The discharge consistency sometimes varies from thin and creamy to rather thick and this is what causes the bad smell from the vagina as described above.
